Journeys

Every journey we publish, and how to use them

Seventeen routes, from three days in one town to fifteen across two countries. Not one of them is fixed.

Drafts rather than packages

Each journey here is set out day by day, with the hotels, the drives, the boats and the meals we would normally arrange. That is not because we believe it is the only sensible order. It is so you have something specific to react to. Almost every enquiry begins with a traveller saying they like one of these routes apart from two or three things, and those two or three things are where the planning actually starts.

Departures are whatever dates you give us, and the group is your own party. Nothing runs to a schedule, so a route written for eleven days can be compressed to nine or stretched to sixteen, and an island can be added or removed without the rest falling apart. Prices are quoted in writing once we know your dates and party size, because the same itinerary costs one thing in March and another in July, and something different again for two travellers and for six.

The list below is grouped by country, then by the two and three country routes at the end. Lengths run from three days in a single town to fifteen days across a border. Every page sets out what happens on each day, roughly how long the driving takes, and where the trip is genuinely tiring, because a route that reads well on a screen can still mean four hours on a mountain road before lunch. If you are new to the region, start with a seven-day route and see what you would add. If you already know the country, skip to the longer journeys and tell us which parts to cut.

Nothing here fits?

Then describe the trip you actually want: the weeks you can take off, the number of travellers, and the things you would rather not do. A fair share of the journeys we run never appear on this site at all. Email info@zaratour.com, message +84 766 283 988, or use the form below, and we will reply within one working day with a draft and a price in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Are these group tours?
No. Every journey here runs privately for the people who book it. You travel with your own guide and your own driver, and the only other travellers are the ones you brought with you. That is also why there are no fixed departure dates: the trip runs when it suits you, not when enough strangers have signed up to fill a bus.
How much of an itinerary can we change?
As much as you like. Swap the hotels, cut a city, add three days on an island, replace a long drive with a short flight, move the whole thing a month later. Changes to the route change the price, and we always send the revised figure in writing before anything at all is booked.
What is normally included in a quote?
Accommodation, private transport with a driver, an English-speaking guide on the days listed, entrance fees, boats, internal flights where the route needs them, and the meals named in the day-by-day. International flights, visas, insurance, drinks and tips are not included. Every written quote sets this out line by line, so there is nothing left to guess at.
